Terran

From Startroid
Jump to: navigation, search

The distant descendants of the humans of Earth, who once sent generation-ships of the incarcerated off as ur-explorers of the Koprulu sector of space. Plucky and adaptable, they formed new societies and enterprises throughout the sector. Terrans take on most any job they can find, and squeeze into any role that doesn't immediately reject them.

Play a terran if you want...

  • to be a resourceful hero able to rise to the challenge.
  • to be the most versatile of all the species.
  • to fight with skill in a variety of ways.
  • to excel at any role you choose.

Terrans come in a wide variety of heights, weights, and colors. Some humans have black or dark brown skin, others are as pale as snow, and they cover the whole range of tans and browns in between. Their hair is black, brown, or a range of blonds and reds. Their eyes are most often brown, blue, or hazel.

Terran garb and culture is as flexible and adaptive as they are: it is reasonable to believe they might wear anything that fits. Terrans of the Koprulu sector favor ostentatious attire, while terrans of the Jroel sector and the UED favor simpler, more functional clothing. Terrans on the whole wear more clothing than other galactic species, although they are also the only species (apart from pathomorphs) to have any culture of nudism as well.

Playing a Terran

Terrans are willful and sometimes rash. They explore the darkest reaches of space in search of knowledge and power. They hurl themselves into danger, dealing with consequences as they arise. They act first and think later, trusting their will to prevail and their native resourcefulness to see them through perilous situations. Terrans always look to the horizon, seeking to expand their influence and their ambition. They chase power and want to change the world around them, for good or for ill.

Despite their recklessness, terrans have established more outposts than any other species: the brightest lights in a dark and untamed galaxy, and terrans constantly seek to explore new lands and settle new frontiers.

Their self-reliance and bravery inclines humans toward roles that set them on the front lines of any conflict (though terrans are diverse, and it is not unusual to meet one who wishes to be anywhere in a conflict but on the front lines). They often prefer to find hidden reserves of strength in themselves rather than trust to the mysticism of some of the other species sense of lore or psionic technology. Terrans are tolerant of other species, different beliefs, and alien cultures. Most human settlements are diverse places where different species live together in relative peace.
